TUUSULA TOUR

Departure from Finlandia Hall by coach with your local English speaking guide towards Tuusula, where a large number of Finnish artists settled along the shores of Lake Tuusula at the turn of the 19th and 20th century. The artists created a distinctive community. Visit to one of them: Ainola, home of the master composer Jean Sibelius. It was named after the wife of the composer and the house was planned by the famous architect Lars Sonck. The house is preserved as it was during Sibelius’ time. Buffet lunch is served at Restaurant Krapihovi, wooden villa built in 1883 surrounded by a wide park. After delicious lunch the tour continues to Halosenniemi. Halosenniemi is the ‘wilderness studio’ of the Finnish painter Pekka Halonen. Built on the cape of Lake Tuusula between 1899–1902, it served as an idyllic home and studio for the artist and his family for many years. The imposing yet gracefully simple timber villa and its interiors were designed and built by Pekka Halonen. Transfer back to Helsinki. Arrival to Finlandia Hall.

HELSINKI CITY TOUR

Monday, 23 May at 13:00-16:00

Departure from Finlandia Hall. During the tour we will see all the main sights in Helsinki city center; sights in the Mannerheim Street, Railway Station, the Presidential Palace, the Uspenski Cathedral, Senate Square; University and Lutheran Cathedral all displaying neo-classical architecture of the 1840’s, then we continue walking from Senate’s Square to the colorful Market Square by the sea in the South Harbour, we’ll also visit indoor Market Hall (walking part weather permitting).Then we’ll continue by coach to Kaivopuisto Park and diplomatic residences. From there we continue to the magnificent Temppeliaukio Church, carved into solid rock (stop 15min). Then we’ll continue towards Sibelius Monument (also stop for 15min). The tour ends at Finlandia Hall.

DESIGN AND SHOPPING TOUR

Departure from Finlandia Hall with your local English speaking guide by coach for the Design and Shopping tour. First we head towards Arabia and a local guide will take us around the Arabia museum and gallery. Visit to the Arabia factory including time for shopping at Arabia shop.Then we will continue towards Design Museum, a guided tour at the museum and also a possibility to visit gift shop. Departure for a light lunch at restaurant Kappeli, a traditional restaurant situated in the heart of the Esplanade.After lunch short walk to Marimekko shop where we will have a short introduction about Marimekko design. The tour ends at Marimekko shop in the Esplanade.

PORVOO OLD TOWN EXCURSION WITH

Departure from Finlandia Hall by coach and with your local guide towards Porvoo. First we visit the home of our national poet J.L. Runeberg. After visit we will continue towards Porvoo harbour where m/s Fredrika is waiting for us. One hour Porvoo river cruise including guidance on board. After our cruise we continue to the old town. One part of walking tour on the way to restaurant. Lunch at a local restaurant. After the lunch the walking tour continues. Departure from Porvoo to Helsinki by coach. Arrival to Helsinki.
