WESTERN FINLAND EXCURSION (May 26-27)
Thursday May 26 (departure at 9.00)
Departure by bus from Finlandia hall towards the city of Tampere at 9am. Visit to the P-Hämppi parking cavern (under construction). Visit to the Sandvik Mining and Construction Finland office for lunch and presentation. A tour in the Sandvik factory. Departure towards the city of Pori. Dinner and overnight at Sokos Hotel Vaakuna, Pori.
Friday May 27 (return at app. 18.00)
Departure towards Olkiluoto at 8.00. Visit to the ONKALO (underground research facility for final disposal of spent nuclear fuel, under construction), lunch at the visitor cetnre, visit to the VLJ-cavern (underground repository for operating radioactive waste, in operation since 1992). Departure towards Rauma and Old Rauma walking tour. Departure towards Helsinki at 2pm. Drive through E18 motorway tunnels (presentation on the coach). Arrival in Helsinki/Helsinki Vantaa Airport at 18.00.

TALLINN, ESTONIA
Friday, 27 May, 6.30am - 8pm
Transfer by coach with our English speaking guide to Tallink line pier. Guide will be at your assistance during the whole excursion. Departure by ferry for Tallinn. Arrival to Tallinn. The 3-hours panoramic sightseeing tour with a local Tallinn guide by coach will start right after arrival. You will pass by the Kadriorg Palace, Peter the Great’s summer palace, now housing Estonian Art Museum in the splendidly restored rooms and halls. Drive further to Toompea hill, where a wooden stronghold was built already in the 11th century. From the hill you have a marvellous panoramic view over the Old Town, which is said to be the most picturesque and best preserved medieval city in Europe. Your guide will then take you through narrow alleys, along cobblestone streets to the heart of Tallinn’s Old Town, “Raekoja plats” – the Townhall Square fl anked with shops, cafés and restaurants. Tour ends to the lunch restaurant, situated in the city center. After lunch there is free time to discover Tallinn by your own. Transfer to Tallinn harbour by coach. Departure by ferry back for Helsinki. Transfer to your hotel.

Departure from Helsinki for St. Petersburg in the morning by Finnish train Sibelius. Arrival in St. Petersburg early in the afternoon. Lunch at local restaurant. Visit to Peter and Paul Fortress. Overnight.
Saturday
Breakfast at hotel. Visit to the Hermitage Museum featuring Old Masters, State Rooms of the Winter Palace and Impressionists’ Exhibition. Short Panoramic city tour featuring the major highlights such as the Admiralty, St.Isaac’s Cathedral, St.Nicholas Cathedral, Palace Square, Smolny Convent (no inside visits). Departure from St. Petersburg for Helsinki in the afternoon. Arrival in Helsinki in the evening.
